Would we do this again? Definitely no. HAHA, I say that because we drove all the way from San Francisco Bay Area down to Palm springs for the Memorial Day weekend. Since we only had 3 days to spare, we started driving around 5:30pm on Friday and reached Rancho Mirage on Saturday afternoon. The drive was tiring, google says 8 hours, but its really 12 hours from the Bay if you include the stop for lunch/dinner/coffee and breaks for the kids.
Where we stayed:
May 22nd was my husband’s birthday so I planned this stay for us 2 weeks beforehand. I picked Ritz Carlton because we just wanted to go to a resort, lay by the pool, go to the spa and feel relaxed. The Ritz met all our expectations. My husband liked the spa, the service was just excellent (from checking in at the front desk to room service, spa, restaurant and check out).
What we did:
The Ritz had a couple of things to offer. They had a Jupiter telescope viewing which Aiden really loved. They had a movie night on the lawn. The pools were very crowded and smaller than I’d like it, but it was the long weekend so we expected crowd. They have a Ritz Kids center as well and the kids spent an hour there playing table tennis, coloring and a few other things.
We also drove to Joshua Tree National Park which is an hour or so drive from Rancho Mirage. We went in the afternoon and it was close to a 100 deg. (it is a desert so can’t complain). It was beautiful and different, watch out for snakes.
Overall our vacation was fun, but we won’t return to Palm springs again. Mostly because my husband and I are beach lovers and the desert left us wanting more. It’s beautiful and a different experience and best for a one time visit.

Now off to some pictures.
